Where I came from...
I come from a humble background as the youngest of seven siblings raised by a single parent in a small town in rural Nebraska. My mother's work as an election worker, member of our town council, and magistrate instilled in me the significance of community involvement and civic duty. We lived in a small close-knit town where we all worked together to enhance the community and our lives.
A Thriving Career
My work background began with a BSW from the University of Nebraska-Kearney, as the first member of my family to complete a college degree. I spent 20 years as a caseworker and casework supervisor in Nebraska and Colorado. I served as a marketing director for an oil company in Nebraska for three years. I was also a small-business owner for 16 years. I spent many years involved in the Jaycees and held many leadership roles. Since my return to Colorado, I have served in leadership roles with the Douglas County Democratic Party. I am committed to public service and improving the lives of the people in this County.
A Thriving Family
My husband and I have been married for 40 years and have raised two children. We are also the proud grandparents of one. We have faced many challenges in those forty years but have emerged stronger.
I am proud of my accomplishments and believe in the value of collaboration. I have been showing up for the community my whole life. My background of hard work and commitment to making my community better makes me confident that I can serve you as a County Commissioner who gets things done and makes it a better place for all of us.
MISSION STATEMENT
Douglas County For All
My goal in running for Douglas County is simple. I want a Douglas County that serves everyone in the community. Douglas County has a place for everyone. I want people to feel welcome here, just have I have been welcomed here. I want to provide solutions to problems, not create solutions in search of problems. I want to be able to communicate with all members of the Douglas County community and work with our towns to create solutions to problems that exist across the county not just in unincorporated Douglas County. I will work with our town councils, our utility providers, our businesses to create policy that benefits and protects all of Douglas County.
