Douglas County for All

As I've embarked on this campaign I've been talking to people throughout the county.  People from across the spectrum have shared with me their concerns and ideas for Douglas County.  It is with those conversations in mind that I have developed my plan for Douglas County

Hand Touching Water

01

WATER

Water is the number 1 concern of the people.  Where will it come from and how long will it last.  I'm in direct opposition to the plan to buy water from the San Luis Valley.  I believe that working with the many water providers who currently serve Douglas County we can formulate a plan that doesn't include the theft of water.

02

Responsible Growth

Each of these areas are tied together very closely.  I am concerned that we are growing faster than our resources can withstand.  Adding homes without a water solution is simply not tenable. We must step back to our master plan with updating that reflects the needs of 2024 rather than those of earlier 2000's.  We must put a greater emphasis on issues such as fire mitigation, water usage/needs, education, impact on wildlife and environment and affordability.

Health Needs

Douglas County left the Tri-County Health Department a few years ago.  I didn't agree with that decision at the time but we are now responsible for our own health department.  I want to further improve the Douglas County Health Department.  Ensuring that all people who are in need of the services of the Health Department have access.

04

Transparency and Ethical Leadership

The current Douglas Board of County Commissioners have not inspired trust with the people.  The constant bickering leaves us with a bad taste.  As we've watched the goings on, I question the ethics of those on the board.  Are they acting in the best interests of themselves or in the best interests of the people?  Do we know how they spend the discretionary fund?  Is it an acceptable use of discretionary funds to give money to large corporations?  Is that in the best interests of the people of Douglas County?  I want to represent you and spend your tax dollars in the most appropriate fashion.
